Artist's Description
Sailboats anchored along the Chesapeake & Delaware ("C & D") Canal at Chesapeake City, Maryland near the entrance to northern Chesapeake Bay. Constructed during the 1820's, the C & D Canal connects the Chesapeake Bay at Chesapeake City, Maryland to the Delaware River at Delaware City, Delaware. Due to its location, Chesapeake City is a popular destination for boaters and maintains several well-known seafood restaurants & establishments along and near the Canal itself. The Chesapeake City Bridge which traverses the Canal is visible in the background. This photograph was taken in October 2013.
