The rain-free base of a low-precipitation mesocyclone (a rotating updraft) associated with a supercell thunderstorm near Booker, Texas in the far on June 3, 2013. These structurally impressive supercell thunderstorms are often referred to as "motherships" due to their resemblance to spaceships as seen on television, movies, and other popular media.
