Description
The setting sun over Valley Forge National Historic Park in suburban Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Located along the border of Chester & Montgomery Counties approximately 20 miles northwest of Center City Philadelphia, Valley Forge served as the site of the Continental Army's encampment during the winter of 1777-78 during the American Revolution. Despite extremely harsh conditions, including severe cold, snow, and disease, the Continental Army persevered through these trials under the leadership of General George Washington. Eventually, the Continental Army defeated the British Redcoats, winning the Revolutionary War and ensuring the independence of the United States of America.
